Acupuncture for migraine in Winterthur Töss

This page is for people in Winterthur Töss and nearby who are looking for a TCM therapist because of migraine or recurring headaches. Some arrive after years of tablets, others after a medical work-up, hoping attacks become less frequent or milder, without anyone guaranteeing a result.

Migraine is not one picture. Light, noise, the menstrual cycle, lack of sleep, neck tension or stress can all play a part. Mrs Zhang does not replace neurology or emergency care. A suddenly different, severe headache, weakness, visual loss or confusion belongs in medical assessment, not in a first acupuncture session.

Jing Zhang has worked with TCM for more than 30 years, in Switzerland since 2017, recognized by EMR and ASCA, ZSR A100263. The appointment starts with what you describe: frequency, aura or not, what triggers you, which medicines you take, and how the neck and sleep are right now.

Then comes pulse and tongue diagnosis. Only after that does she place needles, if that makes sense. The neck often matters; tuina or cupping may be added. Ear acupuncture or moxa only if they fit the findings. Herbs are an option, not an automatic step.

The clinic opens only on Wednesday and Friday. If you call in the middle of an attack, you will not always get the same day. Plan the first visit in a calmer window, not as an emergency substitute.

Some patients report fewer or shorter episodes after a series of sessions. That is not a rule and not a promise. Migraine is often a long course. TCM can be one piece, next to sleep, triggers, medical treatment and what you already know.

We do not claim to cure migraine, stop attacks, or replace medication. If Mrs Zhang thinks a physician should see you first, she will say so. A neighbourhood practice in Töss can accompany you. It cannot replace a clinic.

The practice uses acupuncture, tuina, cupping, moxa, diagnosis and, if needed, herbs. With migraine she often also looks at the neck and sleep. That is why the pages on back pain and sleep sit nearby, without everyone receiving the same programme.

What happens in your session follows the findings that day. There is no fixed “migraine protocol” that runs the same for everyone.

Mrs Zhang is recognized by EMR and ASCA. Complementary-medicine add-ons often ask for exactly that. Basic insurance generally does not pay for TCM from a therapist. Clarify the annual limit and deductible before you start. More on insurance and the EMR profile.

An acupuncture session is about CHF 132 to 156 on the list. The table stays on Pricing.
