Ear Acupuncture

Ear acupuncture uses fine, sterile single-use needles at selected points on the outer ear. Within the TCM framework, the ear is mapped into areas that guide point selection. Ear acupuncture may be used on its own, but at TCM Praxis Töss it is more often added to body acupuncture.

Mrs Zhang cleans the skin before inserting the needles. Insertion can cause a brief prick, pressure, warmth, or mild tingling. The needles remain in place while you rest and are removed before the session ends.

Point selection follows a discussion of your current concerns, health history, medication, and any previous assessment. Mrs Zhang may also use pulse and tongue diagnosis when planning the session.

Tell her about skin irritation, infection, recent injury, or jewellery near the area before treatment. New, severe, or unexplained symptoms require appropriate medical assessment; ear acupuncture is complementary care rather than a medical diagnostic procedure.

When ear and body acupuncture are combined, the points are selected as part of one treatment plan. The combination is reviewed at each visit according to your current symptoms and response to the previous session.

Practical information

The published fee table lists each service: Chinese diagnosis CHF 60.00, a 40–50-minute acupuncture treatment CHF 132.00, and a 60-minute session using one selected method—acupuncture, Tuina massage, or cupping—CHF 156.00.

Reimbursement depends on your supplementary insurance policy. Ask your insurer which services are eligible and what annual limits or co-payments apply; see the health insurance information.

Appointments are available by prior arrangement on Wednesday and Friday: 09:00–12:00, 14:00–18:30.
