TDP Heat Lamp Therapy
A TDP lamp contains a mineral plate warmed by an electrical element. Positioned near the body, it provides steady, dry warmth across a broader area than point-based heat methods such as moxibustion.
At TCM Praxis Töss, the lamp is used during treatment sessions when warmth is appropriate for the area being treated.
You lie or sit while the lamp is directed towards an area such as the back, neck, shoulders, abdomen, or a joint. Mrs Zhang sets the angle and distance, checks how the heat feels, and adjusts the lamp if needed. The warmth should remain comfortable throughout the application.
Tell her before the session about reduced heat sensation, irritated skin, a recent injury, or any condition that affects your response to heat. Say immediately if the area feels too hot or uncomfortable.
The heat lamp is usually added to another TCM method. It may be used while acupuncture needles are in place, or before or after tuina massage or cupping. Whether it is included depends on the consultation and the area being treated.
Heat application is complementary care. New, severe, or unexplained pain requires appropriate medical assessment.
